The Right Dosage of Resveratrol Humans Should Take
Have you heard about resveratrol? Well, many studies and researches suggest that this compound which is abundant in grapes and wine has anti-aging capacities. With that, resveratrol supplements have been manufactured by companies in order to increase the intake of resveratrol per se.
Since many researches display that resveratrol can actually slow down aging, the question now is to know what the right amount of resveratrol dosage. There have been experiments in which the test subjects are mice, fed with a high-fat diet supplemented by a certain resveratrol dosage. With this approach, it was then proven that resveratrol can actually lengthen one’s lifespan.
But then, other popular researches show that the resveratrol dosage used in the mice approach may be different to that of the humans and that such may pose biological risks. Just so recent, the Life Extension Foundation, the only organization that has stood up that resveratrol can extend one’s lifespan, has reported that their members are taking the same relative dosage of resveratrol supplements.
Aside from lengthening the lifespan of humans, resveratrol also acts as an effective shield against some infections. This was actually proven by the study conducted by HusamGhanim, PhD of the University of Buffalo. By experiments, he was able to verify that a resveratrol dosage of 40 milligrams daily for six weeks was able to decrease the potential infections in the human test subjects.
So now, we may ask if the right dose for resveratrol is 40 milligrams. As of this date, no one has confirmed the optimum dose expedient for human beings. The 40 milligram dose is found effective for infection prevention. The dosage for extending lifespan is another question to ponder and work on. We should also consider not taking too much supplement since it may also be detrimental to the body. In any case, consulting your immediate physician for any major change you are going to make to your over-all wellbeing is the best move.
