Plant Sources Of Resveratrol

Various Resveratrol Sources

Produced by certain plants to protect themselves against bacterial and fungal attacks, Resveratrol is a natural and potent anti oxidant widely used as a nutritional supplement due to its anti-aging properties. It also prevents different diseases such as cancer, skin ailments, diabetes and heart and kidney problems.

Resveratrol is an antibiotic substance called phytoalexin and this natural resveratrol is abundantly seen in the skin of grapes used to make wine, raspberries, blueberries, peanuts, mulberries and Japanese knotweed. On the other hand the inadequate quantity of resveratrol in natural products very often makes it unsuccessful so chemically synthesized high concentration extracts are used for effective and faster health benefits.

Resveratrol is a compound found in a variety of plants including cranberries, raspberries, peanuts, pine trees, and grapes. The primary dietary sources in an average person’s diet are peanuts, peanut butter, grapes, and wine. The compound is mainly concentrated in red wines. Resveratrol is produced in the grape skin in response to a bacterial infection that affects the plant, thus acting as a natural antibiotic.
